It’s the first week of the new year and its time to think about setting those new goals and taking action. For me, 2017 was the year of ups and downs. The year started with a car accident (just 3 months after my first car accident) that led to a totaled car. The days after the accident tested my strength emotionally and physically, but with the love and support of a patient husband, I quickly recovered just in time for our Walt Disney World wedding anniversary trip. With that said, it was also the year we celebrated our first year married! It was the year I lost my grandmother. It was the year Joseph and I bought our first home. The year I challenged myself physically by competing in CG Games. (And by competing, I mean, competing against myself. The goal was to finish all four events without giving up.) It was the year we went back to Walt Disney World for the second time in one year. It was the year Joseph graduated with his MBA and was promoted to a new job role at his work. While it may have been a year ups and downs, its time to start fresh.
RETURN TO BLOGGING | Yes, two posts ago, which was almost 10 months ago, I said I was back to blogging but then fell off again. But after several blog renames, finally making the jump to migrate from Blogger to WordPress (all thanks to reading tutorials) and purchasing a domain, its safe to say this goal is off to a good start and sticking.
READ A BOOK A MONTH | This is something that I decided to pick up over Christmas Break. The time off from work allowed me to pick up the books I have been anxious to read and now I want to continue to expand my mind. What books do you think I should add to my reading list?
PAY OFF DEBT | Basically everyone’s goal every year. Unfortunately, debt is something that exists. Joseph and I decided to get a head start to this goal and started tackling debt last month by setting realistic “mini” goals for each month for this bigger goal that most likely will go onto 2019. We have Dave Ramsey’s podcast to thank for this little push to make some changes to our finances, even if it means postponing booking our next trip to Disney World.
DATE NIGHT ONCE A MONTH | While Joseph and I were reviewing our finances for 2017, we realized we didn’t go out often. Our year was focused on house hunting then house decorating, constantly on the go to tackle the next house project. We were basically homebodies. This year, we decided to make it a point to set money aside each month specifically for a night out together whether it be a nice dinner, a movie or even a day trip to a nearby small town.
ORGANIZE AND DECORATE OUR NEW HOME, ONE ROOM AT A TIME | I’ve mentioned it before that if Pinterest did not exist, home decor would not exist. Pinterest has made home decorating overwhelming. I want to decorate our entire house instantly! We have been in our new home for about eight months now and not a single room is fully furnished or complete. We haven’t even finished unpacking! There are boxes in the garage, in the office closet and in our guest bedroom closet. This year, I plan to de-clutter, organize and tidy up our home, one room at a time.
What are some of your goals for 2018?
